It just wouldn’t be a Grey Cup without the Calgary Stampeders brining a horse into a hotel…

It’s usually pretty hard to pin point where tradition comes from, and the Calgary Stampeders Horse in a Hotel is no exception.

It’s rumoured that the tradition started after the Stamps won the Grey Cup in 1948, someone brought a horse into the hotel where the team was staying. Depending on who you hear the story from, it was either the Mayor, a player…or a wrestler (?) riding the horse.

Since then? Well, it’s a yearly tradition and one that fans just can’t get enough of.

At this year’s Grey Cup, the Stamps brought Tuffy the horse into a Holiday Inn in Winnipeg for his annual fan march. Apparently he pooped though…
